This truffle is called Summer Truffle or “Scorzone” in Italy, due to its rough skin.
The season begins on 1st May and it lasts till 30th September*
This is one of the most popular truffle variety as it grows in many kinds of terrain (especially near oak trees, hazelnut and pine trees).
It has a roundish form and variable dimensions. Its external part is black and wrinkled, it is light brown with white veins inside.
Summer truffle has a very delicate aroma and taste that reminds Porcini mushrooms.
